Why an LPG Tank in Nigeria needs water shower

In a tropical country like Nigeria, the tank of an LPG (Cooking Gas) Refilling Plant definitely needs an overhead water shower for a smooth process of dispensing liquid gas into cylinders.

During sunshine, the temperature of the gas tank rises, which causes an increase in the rate of evaporation of the liquid gas, which makes it to change its phase from liquid to vapor.

When this happens, the increased vapor produced in the tank flows to the pump, where it is pumped to the LPG Dispenser.

The high percentage of vapor exiting the LPG Dispenser will end up in the customers’ cylinders, which is where the problem lies; the customer is paying for liquid gas and not gas vapor.

Therefore, when more of gas vapor is in the LPG volume being dispensed into customer’s cylinder, the customer is short-changed and will cry foul.

What the water shower does is to reduce the evaporation of liquid gas caused by increased atmospheric temperature from sunshine and prevent the production of more gas vapors.

This will ensure that the optimum volume of liquid gas is reaching the pump and being dispensed into customers’ cylinders.
